"As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him." - Psalm 18:30

Some Things Everyone Should Know

"There is one God, and there is no other but He." (Mk. 12:32).

The one God is "eternal" (Deut. 33:27).

"In [God] we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28).

The one God consists of three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matt. 28: 19); "...these three are one" (I Jn. 5:7). Yet, in Jesus "dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily" (Col. 2:9).

On an appointed day unknown to man, Jesus "will judge the world in righteousness" (Acts 17:31), and when we die, the judgment will be the next major event (Heb. 9:27). There are no second chances after death! "Behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Cor. 6:2).

There is an eternal place called "heaven." It is a place of eternal joy and peace for the obedient believers. (Cf. 1 Pet. 1:3; John 14:1-6).

There is an eternal place called "hell" for the disobedient and unbelieving (Cf. Mark 9:43; 2 Thess. 1:8-9)

Jesus is "the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him" (Heb. 5:9).

In order for Jesus to save us, we must believe [trust] in Him (Jn. 8:24); repent of sin (Luke 13:3); confess the name of Christ (Rom. 10: 9,10); be baptized for the remission of sins (Mk. 16:16; Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16); remain faithful until death (Rev. 2:10). (See page, "What Must I do to be Saved?")

All the saved are members of the one church mentioned in the Bible, which is the church of Jesus Christ. Jesus said the church would be His and that He would be its builder. (Matt.16:18). Jesus purchased the church with His blood (Acts 20:28); and He is the head of the church (Eph. 1:22-23). All the saved are in the church of Christ because the Lord adds them to it (Acts 2:47). Jesus "is the Savior of the body" (Eph. 5:23), which is the church; therefore those in the church are the saved. One cannot be saved and not be in the body, the church.

All members of the church must make every effort to attend the assemblies (Heb. 10:25) and be active in the body of Christ (Eph. 4:15-16).

We should know God's word to the best of our ability. We are to "grow in knowledge" (2 Peter 3:18). We must study to keep our souls from the practice of sin (Psalm 119:11) and to be knowledgeable of error and false teachers (Jude 3-4). We must also be able to teach others (Matthew 28:18-20).

God loves man supremely above all creatures of the earth. (John 3:16). Because of this love, we must understand that our primary reason for existence is to "fear [revere] God and keep His commandments" (Ecclesiastes 12:13). Life on earth is compared to a single "breath"! (Job 7:7). Nothing in this world should keep us from knowing what God wants us to know and living with an eye on eternity.
